The Receptioner Story: Innovation Born from Client Needs
Originating in 2018, a visionary group of IT enthusiasts in New Zealand saw a gap in the market. At the time, we were just a budding software development company, fueled by passion and driven by the vibrant IT community. Our journey began while we were actively engaging at IT events and seeking to expand our client base.
It was during this phase that a pivotal interaction shaped our future. A prospective client, dissatisfied with the existing online booking solutions, approached us. She articulated her frustrations clearly: the available systems were not only expensive but also inflexible. “Why should I pay for features I don’t use?” she questioned. “Why am I paying for a service during times I’m not even using it?” This encounter highlighted a common pain point among users—a lack of pricing flexibility and unnecessary financial burdens.
Inspired by this feedback, we saw a golden opportunity to innovate. We proposed a tailored booking system specifically for her massage therapy business, breaking down costs to ensure transparency. Unfortunately, she did not proceed with us, but her insights were invaluable.
Simultaneously, similar sentiments echoed from other clients and friends. This reinforced our belief that the market was ripe for change. Motivated by these collective voices, we were determined to create a solution that prioritized flexibility and fairness—qualities that were sorely lacking in the market.
In 2019, Receptioner was born. Our platform was crafted with one clear mission: to offer a flexible, fair-priced booking system that charges clients only for the features they use and only when they use them. This revolutionary approach meant that businesses could enjoy high-quality services without the burden of unnecessary costs, especially during downtimes, like seasonal breaks.
